1. We must be choosy in order to remain a top quality bookstore.  Although we take books in trade from almost any source, we do not automatically take back in trade every book that comes from this store.  Reasons for not accepting a book include:

• poor condition – even if a book was purchased here in marginal condition, we may decide that it has served its useful life and, therefore, not accept it in trade.
• overstock – the store may be overstocked in the item presented to us.
• unsellable – the store may feel that there is no consumer demand for the item.

For used book drop-offs, we record client’s credit and discard or donate the books we can’t use.  Except for rare books, we do not call the client or hold unwanted books for later pick up by the client except by request, in which case, client must reclaim those books within 24 hours or they will be discarded.

2. We strive to be as liberal as possible with our trading policy.  However, the following minimal restrictions are imposed in order to continue providing excellent service:

• Trade credit may be used to purchase only used books.
• Fiction trades only for other fiction and romance trades only for other romance.
• Trade credit may be used to pay for half of any used book purchase.  The other half must be paid by cash or cash equivalent (personal check, credit card, debit card, gift certificate, or gift card).
• Trade credit may not be used to pay for books in the Den of Deep Discounts or for used children’s books in the children’s room that are $2.00 each or less, or for out-of-print books of $50.00 or more.
• Trade credit is good for one year from date of customer’s last trade transaction.

Used mass market paperbacks are not labeled but are sold at 60% of the original published price with a $3.00 minimum price per book.  Customer’s trade credit on paperbacks is 30% of the original published price at store’s discretion.

Used trade paperbacks and hardbacks are priced in pencil on the first white page of the book.  Customer’s trade credit on hardbacks is from 50 cents to $5.00 depending upon demand.

We handle special orders.

Returns:  A new book may be returned for a full cash refund provided it is returned with original receipt, in as-new condition, and within 30 days of purchase.  Study guides and special orders are not returnable under any circumstances.
